Cost of course: Rs 8,000 per semester
Starting salary: Rs 19,000-Rs 40,000 per month
Institute: University of Kota, Rajasthan (www.uok.ac.in)

Global warming is leading to significant impact on the wildlife and the natural ecosystems.
According to a report by the Indira Gandhi Institute of Development Research,
if the global warming predictions come to fruition, climate-related factors
could cause India's gross domestic product to decline by up to nine per cent.
The ever-changing conditions demand a new conservation paradigm,
one that incorporates resiliency and management programmes.
In order to curb the situation professionals need to be recruited on the job.
University of Kota has started a master's programme in wildlife science to fill this gap.
The programme will accommodate 20 students after their processing through the merit basis.
"Students will study in Rajasthan which is host to sanctuaries such as Ranthambore,
Bharat and Sariska to name a few. So this will automatically give them an opportunity to carry out field work with ease,
" says Fatima Bansara, associate professor and course coordinator, University of Kota.
Students with a bachelors of science degree in botany, zoology, agriculture, biotechnology, biochemistry,
microbiology, forestry and veterinary from any recognised university with 50 per cent are eligible to apply.
Selection of students would be on the basis of merit. Completion of the course will help students qualify the Indian Forest Services test.
Also, they can get into the field of research or opt for ranger services.
Governmental and non-governmental organisations often recruit graduates in wildlife science for research and wildlife management.
A fresher can start with anything between Rs 19,000 and go up to Rs 40, 000 per month.

Manipal University has launched an MBA in media and entertainment to groom skilled practitioners.
"The two year programme will train professionals in the media and entertainment sector to enable them to match global needs,

The adoption of 73rd and 74th amendments currently emphasises on local level development planning,
